Radeon still problematic?

I just built a new PC, with the Radeon 9800 Pro.. is it safe to come to linux atm.. or should I stick with XP till this whole driver thing gets sorted out. All I really care about is if the 3d works from ATI, I like to play Enemy Territory every once and awhile..

No problems at all with a Radeon 9500 here. Driver installation is quite straightforward and everything works pretty well.
