|
|
So I got the 2.6 kernel running, and let me just say, it is nice. However, I have an issue that I don't know how to overcome. X is taking up 40% of my CPU at all times. I've tried rebooting, and it doesn't help.
Anyone have any idea? I am running linux-2.6.0-test7-bk5, and xfree-4.3.0-r3 along with gnome-2.4.0.
Thanks for your help.

Well, I tried upgrading to 2.6.0-test8 and that still didn't fix it. Now I'm trying to re-emerge xfree. |

have you tried running top, and sorting based on processor usage? Is it actually X using your cpu, or is it something else?
I'm using 2.6 and sit around a constant 1% cpu usage. This is because of my battery monitor and gkrellm, though. _________________ --

I've used top and that's how I'm seeing X using my CPU:
6852 root 15 0 332m 62m 278m S 21.6 12.4 343:13.50 X
6983 dpowers 15 0 18876 8804 15m R 7.9 1.7 49:05.77 gtik2_applet2
It usally is between 30 annd 40% however.

I've got the same problem since 2.6.0-test2 or 3
X takes about 30% of my CPU, Athlon XP 1700 - so that's alot I think.
Tried mm-sources vanilla kernel and love-patches, same thing.
Don't know, but could it be a Problem with the nvidia binary drivers? |
