Hi I am a total n00b when it comes to Samba. I'm afraid I have no experience of it whatsoever. Please can someone give me a begginners guide/walkthrough in getting stated with Samba?
Ideally i would like to be able to mount Network drives and share them transparently accross my network, just like I can in Windows. That is to say iit would be cool to be able to mount my windows shares ass drives and have them readily avaiable in Linux - and vise versa - have my Linux shares made available in Windows, so that users access either without really ever being aware of the differences... But that is kind of an ideal scenario. Right now I would be happy just to be able to mount my Windows shares in Linux and take it from there.
I really need a walkthrough that is designed not just for a samba novice, but for a networking novice too. I have only very limited experience of both these fields.
I tried reaading some of the docs, but to be honest after the first few minutes I was even more confused than when I started.
If anybody can help out with this, i would very much appreciate it.

Thanks I'll take a look at those. I think the search term I was googling was a tad too complex.
At least I know samba does work. I just tried Geexbox (the new release) and it auomagically opens up my network shares, without any prior configuration from me. I know Gentoo isn't like that, but all the same it would be nice...
