I'm having a hard time getting audio to work in my windows 7 guest machine. I recently transitioned from fedora, where this same disk image and config worked. My host machine has no audio issues though.
Any ideas on how to debug this?

I think I've only ever gotten it to work if I'm using pulseaudio in my global USE flags.
Post your /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf also. In there is a setting for vnc_allow_host_audio if that's what you use for console. If you are doing spice instead (I emerge and use app-emulation/virt-viewer), the remote viewer just lets pulse do its thing. You should also see a playback level setting in your audio mixer for the guest's audio playback. It's possible things are already working for you, but that level is turned down all the way by default. This has nothing to do with the audio volume settings in your guest's audio mixer. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I already have pulseaudio USE flag globally enabled because of systemd profile and am using spice to display.
I'm not sure if it is one or a combination of both installing media-plugins/alsa-plugins and rebooting, but it seems to be working now  |
