ok well heres the deal
i go to
#emege mozilla-thunderbird
blah blah, package is masked
so i look in
/usr/portage/profiles/packages.mask (or whatever that file is)
and there is no
mozilla-thunderbird line in there
so how can i unmask mozilla-thunderbird??

To use the "unstable" version, I usually dont bother with the packages.mask file, i do this:
Code: | env ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -p mozilla-thunderbird |
Assuming you're using x86 arch. That way i just install the newest version of any program i feel like at the command line.
