I just got a new BenQ 8x DVD burner, and when I burn dvd's, my burner's buffer stays empty the whole time. The first dvd I burned, the buffer stayed at about 80% up till it was about half way done burning, then it dropped to 0%. It is an ATAPI DVD burner. I know it's capable of burning faster if I could just get it a good buffer. Previously when burned CD's, if the buffer was low it would burn slow, so I'm pretty sure that's what is causing the problem here. I fixed the problem before by switching to a different kernel, but I don't know that that is the best way to do it.
I am on an XP 1700+, VIA 8KHA+ with 768MB ram. I have via chipsets compiled into my kernel.
Any ideas? _________________ Zak
