Hi,
I just updated my kernel sourses to 2.4.20-gentoo-r5
make menuconfig seemed to have list my prev. settings to I went thru setting things as near to as before , in view that some of the menus have change/moved /disappeared.
After serveral tries I got things fairly good. but two probs remain.
Most importantly, no CDROM! I have a scsi CD and a ide CDWR but nothing under /dev/cd*
I had both drives before as /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 and ....cdrom1
Second prob. the boot log tells me I should have devfs enabled for Gentoo but I am dammed it I can find it with menuconfig!
Can anyone tell me exactly where it has moved to ?
Thx |

You also have to switch the option "prompt for incomplete ...." stuff on in order to be able to get the devfs going (it is in the "General Setup" or smthng in the very top of the main menu).
Ech -- i should have written:
"Code maturity level options -> [*] Prompt for development and/or incomplete code/drivers"
and /dev filesystem should be avaliable to be selected in the filesystems group _________________ qubix |

Ahh yes, that rings a bell. I may try using the flat menu option , that way I wont miss things hidden in colapsing menus. That may sort a few other worries as well .
Thx a lot.! |
