I've managed to start my X apps remotely via SSH-tunneling.
So... how do I start a windows manager remotely, Xmanager keeps asking me for XDMCP. I don't know what that is

Another thing.. is it possible to use these features like a screen session that you can detach and leave running in the background on the host?

Maybe I came off a bit fuzzy here.

I was wondering if it's possible to leave X apps running as a background process on the host computer and then reattach them from a remote computer.

Window managers remotely? Just do the same as you did with the other X programs:
- check the $DISPLAY variable
- run the application (= wm) (e.g. 'fluxbox' or 'startkde')

Detaching and reattaching like you can do with app-misc/screen is not possible with X. (Correct me if there IS a solution!)
Try VNC. :)

Ok, thanks!
I've tried VNC, but I don't like how it performs :(
