Im wondering if this is a gentoo specific problem, or which forum this post should actually go in, but here goes:
Whenever I load emacs i get the following error
Code: |
(emacs)
Loading disp-table...done
Loading tool-bar...done
Loading image...done
Loading tooltip...done
An error has occurred while loading `/home/tor/.emacs':
File error: "Cannot open load file", "/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/session/session.el"
To ensure normal operation, you should investigate the cause
of the error in your initialization file and remove it. Start
Emacs with the `--debug-init' option to view a complete error
backtrace
|
When I try the --debut-init parameter i get the following in the mini buffer:
Code: | Debugger entered--Lisp error: (file-error "Cannot open load file" "/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/session/session.el")
load("/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/session/session.el" nil nil t)
load-file("/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/session/session.el")
eval-buffer(#<buffer *load*> nil "~/.emacs" nil t)
load-with-code-conversion("/home/tor/.emacs" "~/.emacs" t t)
load("~/.emacs" t t)
#[nil "?? |
The session dir and the session.el file is missing on my system. I wondered if this could be a bug in the emacs ebuild, and I wonder if someone could help me fix this. _________________ Aspiring to once become a great geek

Yes indeed it was. Except one would expect it to be installed automatically if it not being there causes an error _________________ Aspiring to once become a great geek

No I disagree. In your ~/.emacs you have load request for an optional package, in your case "session.el". This package installs into site-lisp where all optional site libraries are installed. It is your responsibility to install this package if your ~/.emacs requires it. _________________ Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear bright before you hear them speak. |

You are right. I forgot I actually wrote my .emacs myself a few months ago. _________________ Aspiring to once become a great geek
