My machine is completely hosed. On boot I get all kinds of Permission denied messages on bootmisc and the scripts in /lib/rcscripts/sh.
Well, turns out /etc/init.d/bootmisc is *gone*.
And I get Permission denied if I try to do a long listing on /lib/rcscripts/sh.
As a result, nothing starts, though I can still log in and emerge sync seems to work.
Trying to manually start a service sort of works, but will error messages and the system is not aware of my starting the service. e.g., I started gpm but got errors. gpm was running, but trying to run gpm stop results in "gpm is not running".
All I did was reboot ...
Any ideas?
Mark
Edit: Since bootmisc is part of baselayout, I'll try re-emerging baselayout first. _________________ we're outta control |

Forget it. Re-emerging baselayout fixed it.
