|

Hi
I've setup autofs so that some samba shares and my cdrom/dvd drive can be automounted by doing a "cd /mnt/auto/samba/mypc/myshare", but the directories themselves dont appear until you do a "cd" into them which makes browsing them rather hard. Is there any option so that all the dirs appear there but arent mounted until you "cd" into them?
I tried to get around it by creating a directory full of links to these shares, but since the directories dont exist until you go into them konqueror and nautilus both just put up a dialog box saying them dont exist |

autofs creates the mount points if they do not exist. But if they exist (as in you create them manually) autofs should still behave normally. So you should be able to "mkdir /mnt/auto/samba/mypc/myshare", assuming myshare is the mount point.
