I imagine that proper sandboxing will be difficult, as Skype needs access to your X server to output things (which means that it can log keystrokes etc.), your microphone and speakers, and so on.
It might be practical to run Skype inside a virtual machine, if you can get audio pass-through to work. |

Speaking of audio pass-through, I know playback works fine through QEMU, but how would audio recording work...
Seems a bit scary in my opinion that a VM could be spying on audio... _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K/Radeon R7 250/24GB DDR3/256GB SSD

I'll just throw this out: if you are not overly paranoid you could just run it as a special user that isn't privileged beyond what it needs to run. It is not the most secure option, but really, what are you expecting it to do? I do this for anything I don't really trust like skype, wine, and spotify. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box. |
