Hi all,

Hope somone can help me out here.

First i had problems with the script/bootstrap.sh and i had to modify the gcc-3.2.3-r1.ebuild accordingly. Now when i run "emerge system" it cannot find the file-4.02.tar.gz at ftp.astron.com/pub/file. I went there and there's only file-4.05.tar.gz and file-4.06.tar.gz.

Questions:
- Doest that mean that i don't have the latest portage and if so how do i get it?
- Is there some files i can change or add in order to pick up the right file during "emerge system"?

Thank you for your help,

Pedro

pedurx,

have you performed code step 12.1? (emerge sync will synchronize your package list for you, it should fix the problem you have, unless ftp.astron.com has an out of date mirror.

Thank Pete.

I did do an emerge sync and that completed fine. I'll try it again though.

Cheers,

Pedro

If i use emerge-webrsync it comes back and says "Fetching most recent snapshot" and that's all. I don't get any update of file-4.02.tar.gz to something else (which is why i'm re-syncing in the first place).

"emerge sync" sits there for a long time and then back with "failed to connect to rsync.gentoo.org..."

I've been trying to sync since yesterday afternoon to no avail.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Pedro

It looks like you are behind a firewall that prevents blocks the rsync port. Take a look at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/faq.xml#doc_chap4_sect10 and follow the directons after the emerge-webrsync

Thanks guys. I was able to find the information i needed to solve this issue. It turned out that i had to specify GENTOO_MIRRORS for "emerge-webrsync" to work.

Hopefully i'll finally be able to install gentoo now.
