emerge -u world fails at db-3.2.9 'preserving doc perms'

After emerge --clean rsync, emerge -u world stops with db-3.2.9 and, now, db-3.2.9-r1 consistently at the following steps:

This is on an install from a month or so ago and which has been updated like this, successfully, before. Thanks for info.

Thanks for the help. Following the path of lesser perceived potential cranial distress, I tried reverius42's method in that thread by putting a - in front of the acl in /etc/make.conf (I don't know what an acl is; ugh, my / is xfs), emerging fileutils, and emerge world has now flown past the former roadblock of db-3.2.9
