|
|
Hello,
I have a problem since I updated skype to 4.3 few days ago. When I am watching a movie with VLC and skype plays notification (e.g. somebody got online) then VLC pauses and resumes after a second.
I've made a few tests and what I found was that if i play something on VLC and on Clementine (my music player) the sound from the two application mixes. Then if I go to skype settings, go to Sound Devices and then press Make a test sound both VLC and Clementine pause (and don't resume).
Any Idea what could be causing this? I've searched and I found this: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Skype#Skype_sounds_stops_media_player_or_other_sound_sources in the Arch wiki. I'm reluctant do use this solution first and foremost because I don't understand exactly what it does.

Hi, I have the same problem and I found this exactly post about role-cork.
I will only test this solution later in home, but searching around I found that this module is responsable
for exclusive output, and you actualy may configure pulseaudio to do this with specific type of sounds,
for example with sounds of type music (2 music players trying to play mp3 at the same time).
With this in mind, it's very possible that unloading this module or disabling exclusive sounds resolve the problem.
As soon as I try this solution I post here the results. |

I found another solution for this problem. Just comment at /etc/pulse/default.pa: Code: | load-module module-cork-music-on-phone |
Solution from here |

After I reboot my notebook with this change on pulse/default.pa (yeah, I'm noob, don't know how to simply restart pulseaudio )
I had to use pavucontrol to select the correct output device, and all worked correctly

Actually I didn't have
Code: | load-module module-cork-music-on-phone |
in the default.pa but i had
Code: | load-module module-role-cork |
It solved the issue but that seemed more like a walk around then a solution.
Anyway, thanks for the help. |
