I modprobed nvidia, with no result.

I was so desperate yesterday, that I downloaded, compiled and started running the ck2-sources (2.4.22 - a kernel that my nvidia-drivers have worked with before...) - but I'm still having the same problem...

Isn't there any nvidia-forum that is active?

I am having issues getting the nvidia drivers to work.

In /usr/src ihave a linux symlink pointing to my linux-2.6.0-test9-mm1 tree.

When I emerge nvidia-kernel I get something to the effect of:
"verify /usr/src/linux symlink is set-up and that you ran make dep."

I didn't run make dep, in fact you can't run make dep anymore in 2.6 correct?

Thanks in advanc efor any help.......

have you tried:
opengl-update

Haha! Sometimes it's that one command you need to get things working. That was it for me.
Code:
opengl-update nvidia
got it working on my AMD64 running 2.6.3-gentoo-r2 (and also 2.6.5-gentoo).

And I was about to go out and find a later kernel to run.

Hey everyone, this is my first post. Gentoo rules!!! Anyways. One more thing that was not mentioned here (for those still having the problem): there are 2 places I hade to change the driver name in my XF86Config to "nvidia". One was in devices, the other was just above it. I hope this helps someone.
