SO I just got handed down an old alpha at work with dual 264DP processors and 4 gigs of ram so it is or was a beast in its day. I want to install an OS that has support for the 64 bit processors and as I am a native Gentoo user and little experience with the alphas I am wondering if anyone out there has any advice/ideas of how I should proceed. I saw that suse has an 8.1 version for the alpha but...I like gentoo.
What I was planning on doing with it is just running some benchmarks...any suggestions or should I not mess with it...Thanks |

Is it for a particular use? Or is it just a really cool Toy? _________________ Lares Moreau <lares.moreau@gmail.com>

with that much ram you know you want a ramdisk/tmpfs for your apps, why not ask at alternate arcutectures how well gentoo works, id be surprised if it wasnt fine is there an alpha tree branch _________________ Giay tay nam | Giay nam cao cap | Giay luoi |
