hi all,
Currently I don't have Internet access at home , I have it at work. So I dowload "stuff" at work, copy it on my laptop, and then copy it on my computers at home. I know how to install/upgrade packages from sources, I copy sources into /usr/portage/distfiles and then "emerge ..."
But what about Portage's tree? "emerge sync" doesn't work because I don't have Internet access at home. I downloaded (at work) snapshots' files (portage-[date].tar.bz2), but don't know how to "apply" it?
I'd be very grateful for Your help |

It's me again
Do you think that unpacking Portage snapshot (file: portage-[yyyymmdd].tar.bz2 from [gentoo-mirror]/snapshots/) into /usr will be enough? |

Blasfemia,
It should work, read the alternate installation guide
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/altinstall.xml
It talks about using the portage snapshot files, and it also gives you a script to list all the files you need to download and set up for a wget session.
